Perikatan willing to work with any parties in Sabah except GRS

PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said PN is open to cooperating with any party for the upcoming Sabah state election, except GRS, which he accused of betraying PN by leaving the coalition to form its own government.

“As I have said, it is very difficult to work with GRS because they have denied us. Would you want to work with them if you were in my position?

“The name GRS was actually given by me when they first started. At that time, not only BERSATU was in the coalition, but other parties too. I named it GRS just as a name; it was not registered,” he said.

Muhyiddin claimed GRS later registered itself as a political party without PN’s consent, resulting in PN losing many seats.

“This is a betrayal because many seats we won were lost just like that,” he said.

Despite these losses, Muhyiddin remains confident that PN still has strong support in Sabah due to its past governance during COVID-19 and promised a thorough candidate selection process for the state election.

“We will study and scrutinise each contested State Assembly (DUN) seat more closely. After the assembly is dissolved, we will conduct a thorough review, and if there are parties willing to cooperate, we will consider it.

“One fact is that people saw our sincerity in managing the country during COVID-19, the assistance we provided, and our efforts in saving many lives. They still remember my service and call me ‘Abah’,” he said. —July 13, 2025
