Khalid Samad’s former aide remanded in graft probe

FORMER federal territories minister Khalid Abdul Samad has confirmed that Azli Yusuf, his former political secretary, had been arrested and remanded to facilitate a police probe into corruption allegations.

Taking to Twitter, Khalid said Azli was remanded based on a “complaint by an architecture firm that was given a fake development order by a broker.”

The broker had received benefits by using Azli’s name to secure the DO for the firm, Khalid said, adding that he could not divulge more as the case was under police investigation.

“I cannot say more as the case is still under police investigation. I was informed that the broker received millions of ringgit by using another’s name,” he said in a follow-up tweet.

Khalid’s confirmation comes on the back of a report by Free Malaysia Today that Bukit Aman was probing allegations of corruption involving a former minister from the Pakatan Harapan administration.

The allegations involve several developers in Kuala Lumpur, the portal added. A report has also been lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. – May 18, 2020
