THE Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Finance and Central Bank Deputies’ Meeting (APEC FCBDM) has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting, scheduled for May 17-19 at Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, has been postponed to a later date, according to a government official.
“The decision was made as a measure to protect the safety and health of all delegates as well as the secretariat,” the official said.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday announced a 14-day restricted movement order effective tomorrow (March 18).
Some of the measures include a ban on all mass gatherings, including religious, sports, social and cultural activities; suspension of all schools and learning institutions; closure of all government and private premises except for essential services; and entry restrictions for foreign tourists and visitors.
According to Muhyiddin, queries could be directed to a dedicated hotline which began operations at noon today. The hotline is 03 8888 2010. – March 17, 2020
