SEVERAL areas in Kedah, Perak, Pahang, Sabah, and Sarawak remain under a Level 1 heatwave alert, with temperatures between 35°C and 37°C. The Malaysian Meteorological Department warns that the hot and dry weather is expected to continue for several more days.
Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities, and limit sun exposure, especially midday. The Level 1 alert is triggered when such temperatures persist for three consecutive days.
Meanwhile, Southwest Monsoon conditions continue over Singapore, with winds from the southeast or southwest. The first half of August 2025 is expected to be wetter, with frequent thundery showers and possible Sumatra squalls.
Daily maximum temperatures will range between 32°C and 34°C. In contrast, the latter half of July 2025 saw mostly warm and fair weather, with some localized thundery showers.
The highest rainfall was 88.4 mm on July 30. Most areas recorded below-average rainfall, despite temperatures often exceeding 33°C and several warm nights with minimum temperatures above 27°C. —Aug 3, 2025
